It is with deep sorrow that we announce John Lewis Chittim III passed away peacefully in July 2025 in Lynnwood at the age of 76. John was born in 1949 to parents John and Jeanette in Seattle. He was the youngest of his siblings.
When he was a teenager, his family moved to Edmonds, where he graduated from Edmonds High School and attended Edmonds Community College. In 1968, John met the love of his life, Linda Wolff, who he married in 1969.
They spent their honeymoon in Ocean Shores, which turned out to be one of their favorite places to visit every summer until later in life, when they purchased a condo there for vacations. After he and Linda married, John served in the Army National Guard. The couple bought their first home in Lynnwood, where they raised their family for more than 33 years. They then moved to Everett to be closer to their daughter and her family.
John had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making everyone laugh.
He was known for his playful teasing and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He was detail-oriented, took great pride in his craftsmanship, and had a deep affection for spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, sitting around the fire pit, traveling, walks on the beach, and appreciated a cocktail on his condo’s balcony while he watched the waves, boats, and seagulls.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer Barker (Scott) of Snohomish; grandchildren, Grady, Preston, and Kayla; sisters, Jackie Atkins (Bailey) of Birch Bay and JoAnn McCallister of Camano Island; niece and nephews, Jana McLeod (Scott) of Everett; Todd Atkins (Kathleen) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Doug Crosby of Mill Creek; along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda; his parents, John and Jeanette; in-laws, Richard and Cathy; brothers-in-law, Ken McCallister and Jay Wolff; and nephew Darin Crosby.
His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the care team at Blue Touch Senior Care, where John spent his last four years. Titi always had unwavering love and care for John, and her whole caregiving team always treated him with the utmost respect and care. And to Pauline, who was with John in his final moments.
They would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to Alpha Hospice, which cared for John in the last few weeks of his life. The kindness and support from everyone who helped take care of John will always be remembered and appreciated.
John will be greatly missed, but he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.
A memorial service will be held in November for all who would like to join us in honoring his memory.
